Independence Day

Amazingly the fourth of July turned out to be mostly sunny and fairly warm too!  After all the clouds and rain we've been having lately it was a very nice change!  We took the kids to Tiny Town in Kingston where they had their faces painted, played on the bouncy houses/slides etc.  We chose to opt out of the parade watching this year.  The kids don't really care about watching the parade, they just like the candy that gets thrown to the crowd.  Instead we bought them some cotton candy right before we left Tiny Town.  They were happy with that (and ate PLENTY of sugar in the process).

Later, that afternoon we went to my parent's home for a bbq and some fireworks.  The kids played on the beach a little bit.  Poor Cody hasn't been feeling great the past few days, so he spent most of his time on Grandma's couch.  By the end of the day he was running a fever so he just wanted to watch a movie.  We got to see my brother Gary and his three boys.  Kaitlyn and Jaxon had so much fun running around together outside while we were doing fireworks.  Jaxon rarely sees Kaitlyn, so he was calling her "Julia" one of his other cousins names.  It was really cute to watch!  We just did some sparklers and Gary and Dave set off some smaller fireworks.  Only in Washington would they not have set the whole lawn on fire!

It was a nice relaxing day for the most part and the sun has stayed since then too!  We even finally set up our little pool for the kids to play in.  Abi and Kaitlyn tried it out yesterday, but the water was still pretty cold so they didn't stay in for long.  Hopefully since we have had several sunny days in a row it will get warm enough to swim in soon!
