First camping trip of 2012

What does it mean when school is out?  Why camping, of course!  Our kids have been asking pretty much all Fall/Winter when we would be going camping again.  The last day of school was Wednesday, so we headed to Zion's Camp for a short one night trip.  Thankfully we brought tarps and our canopy because it rained quite a bit.  Cody even said, "Mom, why is it raining when it is summer time?"  My answer..."Well, because we live in Washington and it rains here, even in the summer.  We just have to be grateful for any nice weather we get!"

We did have periods where it wasn't raining or it was just sprinkling.  We played on all the swings and even went out on the lake with a paddle boat and canoe.  It just so happened that there was a youth conference going on right next to where we put up our tent.  They were well behaved, but NOISY!  They started a dance about 30 minutes before we had planned to put the kids to bed.  Kaitlyn was so tired she still went to sleep, but Cody and Abi got to stay up an extra two hours and even after we all went to bed the music was still going.  I think they ended it around 11pm.

The next morning the weather was dry so we went out on the boats again and played on the playground.  Cody and Daddy borrowed some bows and arrows and tried out the archery range.  By lunch time it was POURING rain again.  We packed everything up and headed back home after eating lunch.  A successful, albeit wet, camping trip!  Next weekend Dave is taking Cody and Abi backpacking so hopefully the weather will be more cooperative.

we have the problem of it being To HOT while camping and you cant sleep in your tent because it is 95 degrees in it! Glad the kids had fun even with the rain :)
