Friday we drove to Lake Chalan. First we stopped at the water slide park. We played on the slides, pools and hot tub for a few hours. It was so much more fun for me this year (since last year I was pregnant and couldn't go down the slides)! My favorite was the double enertube slide. I went down it with both Cody and Abi and it was a blast!
Then we drove to the state park at Lake Chalan and had a picnic lunch and played in the water for a few more hours. When we first got there and Cody had just come out of the water for the first time I asked him how the water was. He said, "You get used to it." I was a little leary about it after that description, but it was cool, not cold and very nice on a hot day. The kids played on our alligator and the turtle we borrowed from Nathaniel. Even Ellie went for a little ride!
Abi showing off her new "hole" where her tooth came out the night before.
After we were done in the water and everyone was dressed we let the kids play on the playground for a few minutes. Dave bought some icees to eat. I gave Ellie a taste of my lemon icee and the look on her face was priceless! She puckered up her lips and scrunched her face up with quite the sour taste expression.
Can you tell what color the girls icees were?
After the lake we drove to Wenatche and went to the Prospector Pies Restaurant. They had a very friendly staff, great kids activity as they waited for their food (stickers that they used to dress up a paper-doll type paper), and good food at good prices. Definately a good place to go again! Everyone was pretty tired after that so we went back to the cabin and put everyone to bed for the night. Ellie was so tired she only woke up once that night!!!
Saturday we packed up and headed into Leavenworth for some miniature golfing. It was the first time for our kids. It was fun to see them figuring out how to do it. Dave came in first, I was second, Cody third and Abi last. Kaitlyn only wanted to participate about half of the time. Cody won the prize for the most hole-in-ones though. He got TWO of them! The people in front of us told me I should have had a "handicap" because I was carrying Ellie in a front pack which made it a little more difficult to aim and swing well. Good thing it was just for fun!
After golfing, we went to Enchantment Park in Leavenworth where we had a picnic lunch and played in the river for a short time. Then we drove back to Edmonds to catch the ferry home. We are thinking we should see if we can find a good place to have a family reunion near Lake Chalan next summer!
