It was really interesting! They showed us a real (but very young cocoa tree) and then lots of pictures of the pods (fruit) that grow on the tree trunk because each mature pod can weigh up to FOUR pounds! Each pod has 20 to 40 seeds and it takes 2-3 pods to make one bar of chocolate. We learned all the steps from fruit to a finished chocolate bar with lots of samples along the way. I learned a lot and hopefully the kids learned something too.
I only got slightly confused trying to find my way out of Seattle, but we made it home safely (thankful for our GPS)! And of course we just had to bring home some of that yummy chocolate too.
