Ellie turned one today! In some ways this year has flown by so fast that I wonder where the time went. In other ways it has gone by sooooo slow (I feel like I've missed a whole lot more sleep than just one year's worth). It is so fun to see Ellie's personality coming out more. She likes to laugh and will do silly things like shake her head back and forth just to make other people (and herself) laugh. She has started to LOVE peek-a-boo. She is cruising around the furniture. Sometimes she will let go and balance for a while, but hasn't really tried to take steps on her own yet. She is figuring out how to open kitchen cupboards and if she sees the gate to the stairs open, she makes a beeline for them! She is working on her first molar (more sleepless nights for mom). She is also starting to climb everything she can. Hopefully she will quickly learn how to get down as well or she may end up being black and blue from falling so often.

Here is the progression of Ellie eating her first cupcake ever. She squished it first and after about two minutes of that I finally put a dab of frosting in her mouth and then she started eating it. Mostly she just made a huge mess all over her tray and the floor!
We just kept things simple and just had our family here for her party. She got a N.J. t-shirt from Grandma and Grandpa Burt (which she promptly tried to eat), a soft cuddly bear from Grandma Heather, and a musical toy from our family. We are so grateful she is part of our family! Happy birthday Ellie Boo!
